Mrs. Dunn has been involved with horses since any early age. She and Mr. Dunn became involved with the Friesian breed in 2008 when they purchased their first Friesian horse together. Prior to co-owning Pitch Black Stables with her husband Wes, Mrs. Dunn completed her college degree at Central Texas College. Before that Mrs. Dunn was a combat veteran in the United States Air Force. She served 2 tours in Iraq with the 4th Infantry Division and the 1st Cavalry Division. Mrs. Dunn was a combat weather forecaster who provided support for both air and ground missons as well as rescue and aid missions. After leaving the service Mrs. Dunn decided to pursue her passion for horses, especially KFPS Friesian horses.
Mr. Dunn is the General Manager of Cumberland KIA in Cookeville, TN where he overseas all of the day to day operations of the store. He manages a number of employees and is involved in every aspect of the store. Mr. Dunn completed his degree in marketing at Tennessee Technological University. Mr. Dunn became involved in horses because of his wife, but quickly became drawn to the Friesian horse in particular. Mr. Dunn enjoys helping with the horses as well as selecting a number of the breeding pairings. Mr. Dunn is actively involved in the inspection process, showing, and handling of the horses.
Pitch Black Stables is dedicated to improving the Friesian breed by painstakingly choosing each pairing in an attempt to produce top quality offspring for pleasure, sport, and show. First and foremost our greatest concern is for the health of the breed overall. Next we strive for nothing short of near perfect. We aim to produce horses that are not only correct in conformation, but also in movement. We carefully research each home before selling our horses to try to ensure the best possible match for both horse and owner. Pitch Black Stables is setting the standard high by breeding for temperment, quality bloodlines, balanced and powerful movement, and correct conformation.
